Questions as Dialogue Games. The Pragmatic Dimensions of “Authentic” Questions

Abstract Questions, and more specifically authentic questions, are at the core of dialogue-based learning teaching. However, what is a question, how can it be authentic? This paper addresses this problem by analyzing distinct dimensions showing their pragmatic nature interwoven with syntactic semantic one, grasped only considering dialogical functions. Questions maintained to proposals different dialogue games (or types), pursuing specific interactional purposes, potentially contributing processes in ways. By understanding questions shape dialogues possible ask suitable questioner’s goals. In framework, dichotomy between inauthentic becomes strategic choice types possibilities.
